Best Knee Braces For Netball

WHY SHOULD I WEAR A KNEE BRACE WHILE PLAYING NETBALL?

According to the latest sports injury hospitalisation report released by Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, there have been 1,262 cases of hospitalisations from netball injury. Furthermore, netball and soccer accounted to the highest amount of knee injuries.

Wearing a Bauerfeind brace or knee support can minimise your chances of a netball injury by providing enhanced stability, proprioception and moisture-wicking medical-grade compression.

Bauerfeind knee braces help to promote blood flow with the use of our 3D weaved medical grade compression, something not found when using simple neoprene sleeves and braces.

This added support will help stabilise your joint without limiting your ability to run down a court or score your next goal.

NETBALL PLAYER CLAIRE O' BRIEN WEARS BAUERFEIND

Australian netball player Claire O’Brien has been playing netball since she was eight years old. The New South Wales Swifts player visted our flagship store in Sydney. Claire was measured using Bauerfeind's 3D scanning technology to help ensure the perfectly sized product is selected perfect fit.

“The recovery process was pretty hard. The worst thing was the thought of not being able to get on the court for months,” says Claire. Bauerfeind helps elite athletes, netball and basketball players achieve their personal best and support them so they spend less time on the sidelines.

WHAT CAUSES KNEE PAIN DURING NETBALL?

Too much stress on your knees can cause pain, or even injury. Netball is a high speed, high impact sport that is hard on your knees and as a result you may feel pain during or after playing.

HOW TO TREAT A NETBALL KNEE INJURY?

We recommend seeking treatment from a physiotherapist on treating a netball injury. They may recommend one the following treatments.
  • Strains or Sprains. Many sprains and strains can be treated with the RICE method: Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation. A good physiotherapist can assist with the recovery however prevention is always better than cure.
  • Arthritis of the Knee. Non-surgical treatment options for severe knee arthritis include physiotherapy exercises, applications of ice or heat and using supportive devices.
  • Jumper’s Knee. This is commonly known as Patellar tendonitis. Rarely does this condition require surgery. It can generally be treated using a combination of anti-inflammatory medications (such as ibuprofen) and exercise. A corticosteroid injection may also be used.

Play it safe: Consult a doctor if you experience unusually intense and persistent knee pain.
