Best Knee Braces For Weights Training

HOW CAN I PREVENT OR AVOID A KNEE INJURY DURING MY WEIGHTS TRAINING SESSION?

For weight trainers and physically active people the knee joints endure a wide range of stresses and strains. Overuse injuries from repetitive squatting movement can cause knee problems and even osteoarthritis in the long run.

Wearing a Bauerfeind brace or knee support can minimise your chances of injury by providing enhanced stability, medical-grade compression.

We recommend wearing the GenuTrain or the Sports Knee Support to improve recovery rates and prevent injuries, especially if you are prone to injury or have weak knees.

If you have meniscal tears from repetitive gym activity or have recently suffered a knee injury, we recommend wearing the GenuTrain S knee brace. It assists to reduce unwanted lateral knee movement.

ATHLETE ADRIAN FOWLER WEARING BAUERFEIND KNEE BRACES

Take a look at elite athlete Adrian Fowler wearing the GenuTrain P3 and weightlifting 110kgs. He was suffering from an LCL injury and used the brace to support his knee during training.

Adrian was able to get back into training without any pain and tightness using Bauerfeind knee braces after his LCL injury.

Bauerfeind knee braces help to promote blood flow with the use of medical grade compression, something not found when using cheap neoprene sleeves and braces.

Protect your knee joints so you can lift, squat and enjoy multiple reps without injury.

WHY DO MY KNEES HURT WHEN SQUATTING?

Knees can hurt during squatting for many reasons. Poor posture, ankle instability, inactive and weak muscles as well as unstable knees can all lead to knee pain. Make sure you are using correct form and, if pain persists, seek medical attention.

HOW TO TREAT A WEIGHTLIFTING KNEE INJURY

We recommend visiting a physiotherapist for treatment and advice on treating common weightlifting injuries. They may recommend the following treatments.
    • Strains or Sprains. Many sprains and strains can be treated with the RICE method: Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation. A good physiotherapist can assist with the recovery however prevention is always better than cure.
    • Medial Collateral Ligament injury.  This occurs when the (valgus) force is too great for the ligament to resist and the ligament is overstretched. Treatment of an MCL injury varies depending on its severity. Always consult a physiotherapist to receive a full diagnosis and treatment plan.
    • Patellar tendonitis. Rarely does this condition require surgery. It can generally be treated using a combination of anti-inflammatory medications (such as ibuprofen) and exercise. A corticosteroid injection may also be used.
