About Bauerfeind

For an active and pain free life

Your health is our primary concern. Since 1929, we’ve worked tirelessly to develop and improve our extensive range of high quality braces and supports, insoles and compression products so that you can spend more time doing the things you love, without pain holding you back.

Exclusively made in Germany, Bauerfeind combines over 90 years of expertise in technology and manufacturing with modern research and scientific testing to develop cutting edge products.

Made in Germany

Our patented, award-winning products are partly manufactured by hand and entirely produced on site in Germany with stringent quality controls in place to ensure that every product delivers the best possible outcomes. We work closely with doctors, clinics and orthopaedic technicians to incorporate the latest medical insights into product development.

Our flagship store opened in the Sydney CBD in 2018 with the goal to bring a new level of quality to the Australian and New Zealand medical aid industry and help everyday people live an active and pain-free life.

History

Founded by Bruno Bauerfeind in 1929 in Zeulenroda, Germany, Bauerfeind was established as a pioneer in the development of medical grade compression and remained solely focussed on compression stockings until the 1981 release of the first GenuTrain knee brace.

Since then, we’ve expanded our product offerings significantly, with braces, supports, insoles and compression products suited to a wide range of customers and indications.

Today, Bauerfeind employs more than 2500 people in over 30 countries, maintaining its commitment to innovation and quality as a family run business with a global mindset.

Award winning

A relentless commitment to quality drives everything that we do. All of our products are subject to rigorous testing and quality controls to ensure that they deliver the best possible outcomes. Beyond standard tests, we also perform clinical trials and comfort tests.

All of our compression garments meet the globally recognised RAL - GZ 387 quality assurance standards which ensure the materials, knitting construction, style and pressure distribution are in line with strict, medical grade requirements.

Supporting athletes on the biggest stage

The Olympics is the largest sporting event in the world and, for many athletes, the highlight of their career. Bauerfeind has been a firm fixture of Olympic medical care since 2002. Initially, Bauerfeind offered its orthopaedic services exclusively to German athletes but since 2010, Bauerfeind has been responsible for treating athletes from all participating countries as a partner of the Olympic Organising Committee.

We’re excited to support a number of Australian athletes as they prepare for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics such as volleyballer Harry Peacock and Matildas player Teigen Allen. When athletes push their bodies to the limit, they come to us because they trust that we can help them perform at their best.

Internationally, Bauerfeind is an official NBA partner, offering players products and support they can count on. Since 2018, the GenuTrain NBA has been the official knee support of the league.

Since our launch in Australia, we’ve worked closely with a growing list of elite sporting teams to enhance both their recovery and performance. We’re proud to be working with the New South Wales Rugby League as the official supplier of compression garments, supports and orthoses. Launching in May 2019, this partnership saw Bauerfeind supply the New South Wales Blues representative side for the annual State of Origin series. Since then, we’ve begun working with clubs such as the Sydney Roosters and Manly Sea Eagles as official recovery partners.

As well as supplying specific supports and orthoses, players are measured using the BodyTronic 600 system and provided with Bauerfeind Sports Compression Sleeves for their arms, legs and thighs as well as Sports Compression Socks for rapid post-match recuperation.

Trusted by the best in sport, both in Australia and overseas, we’re passionate about helping athletes and everyday people recover faster, perform better and achieve their goals.
