Hinged Knee Braces

Whether it's a wobbly knee that gives way without warning, arthritic pain that flares up when you've been moving or just a weak joint, few things help your stability more than a hinged knee brace. Combining state of the art medical research with perfect anatomical fit and comfort, Bauerfeind have the best hinged knee braces for you.

From a the lightweight GenuTrain S that's great for active movement, all the way to the SecuTec Genu, a fully adjustable hinged knee brace, you're covered no matter how bad your knee is.

These supports are ideal for meniscus and ligament injuries, instability as well as mild to moderate arthritis.

Find answers to the most common questions.

Are these braces heavy?

Bauerfeind uses a range of sturdy but lightweight materials for the hinged knee supports. Either thermoplastic struts, lightweight aeroplane aluminium alloy or interchangeable hinges, they are all designed to take weight off the leg, not add it on. Perfect for sports, travel and more.

Can these stop my leg moving?

Our hinged knee supports have a whole host of options when it comes to range of movement. Whether it's blocking hyperextension, preset angle options or complete control over extension and flexion at every 5 degrees of movement, there's an option for every knee.

Will this stop me getting injured?

While it's fair to say that Bauerfeind's hinged knee supports do minimise the risk of injury to the ligaments, meniscus and other parts of the knee, it's not 100%. Any type of physical activity carries it's own risk of injury, and if you've previously hurt yourself, that risk increases. When wearing the supports, it's still important to exercise caution and not push yourself too hard while the knee is recovering.

How do I take care of these products?

Virtually all of our products can be machine washed on a cold gentle cycle and air dried out of direct sunlight. Putting them on and taking them off carefully is recommended, and for specific product care, refer to the product manual or contact our friendly staff.

What is the warranty for these products?

All supports and insoles come with a 12 month warranty, and compression stockings with a 3 month warranty for any manufacturers faults. At any point if you've got issues with the product or aren't sure if something is wrong, just contact our helpful staff.

How do I know they'll fit?

Bauerfeind have an incredibly extensive sizing system for our products based off of hundreds of thousands of patient measurements. The perfect anatomic fit system we use means that the supports are designed to fit your body, not the other way around. (We also offer custom options for a range of our products for those rare few who still can't fit into our sizing range).

Can I claim these back on private health insurance?

Most private health coverage with extras offer some kind of rebate on supports, but this changes widely depending on the insurance provider and the plan you're on. In general, any brace with a hinge or rigid components is covered, so you're more likely to be able to claim back with one of these than a standard knee support. If you're unsure, it's best to check directly with your insurer.
